Self Harm
Self-harm is often used as a release. A way of letting out bad or negative feelings.
Rarely the cause in its own right self-harm is usually a symptom of another problem – anxiety, depression, stress or bullying.
Far from uncommon it’s estimated that one in ten 15-16 year olds self-harm.

Signs of self-harm
- Cutting or burning their skin
- Punching or hitting themselves
- Misusing alcohol or drugs
- Deliberately starving themselves (anorexia nervosa) or binge eating (bulimia nervosa)
- Excessively exercising
