Psychosis
Psychosis is when people lose some contact with reality. This might involve seeing or hearing things that other people cannot see or hear (hallucinations) and believing things that are not actually true such as someone is going to harm them (delusions).

Possible signs of psychosis
- Hallucinations – seeing or hearing things and sometimes feeling, smelling or tasting things that are not there.
- Delusions – strong beliefs that are experienced by the person but not by others such as someone is against them or going to harm them.
- Hallucinations and delusions can cause a high level of distress for people and this may cause a drastic change in their behaviour.
